Yes. Candidates anywhere in Canada can complete the examination by supervised video conference using Microsoft Teams. You must remain on camera, present valid government-issued photo identification and write from a suitable private space.
The examination fee is $80 CAD. ISED does not charge a separate fee to issue the certificate. The examination fee covers the examiner’s time, supervision and administration.

You must achieve at least 70% to pass. Preparation should include the official ISED study guide, standard aeronautical phraseology, operating procedures and applicable regulations.
After a successful examination, the examiner submits your result to ISED for processing. ISED—not the examiner—issues the valid certificate. No temporary operating authority can be provided.
Yes. The examination must take place while you are physically in Canada. Video examinations are available nationwide; in-person appointments are offered on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
