Do I have to take the preparation course?
No. The course is optional. Candidates who are already prepared may book the ROC-A examination directly.
How much does the course cost?
The self-paced ROC-A Preparation Course costs $25 CAD.
How long do I have access?
Course access lasts 30 days from purchase.
What is included in the course?
The course includes Focused lessons, multimedia instruction, knowledge checks, module reviews, a 25-question practice examination, a course-completion certificate and a $10 exam credit.
How much does the examination cost?
The standard ROC-A examination costs $70 CAD. It is a separate service from the optional preparation course. If you are eligible for the existing $10 course credit, your exam balance is $60 CAD.
How is the exam conducted?
Virtual examinations are conducted by Microsoft Teams under the direct supervision of an ISED-accredited examiner.
How long does the exam take?
The examination takes approximately 30 minutes.
What identification is required?
For our virtual examinations, you must send a scanned copy of government-issued photo identification containing your date of birth in advance. During the examination, you must show the same ID again for verification. Submission instructions are provided after your booking request is reviewed.
Is there a minimum age?
No. There is no age prerequisite for the ROC-A.
Do I need to be in Canada?
Yes. You must be physically located in Canada while completing the virtual examination.
Is the course practice exam the official exam?
No. The 25-question practice examination is part of the preparation course. The official ROC-A examination is a separate service with a standard price of $70 CAD.
What happens after the exam?
After a successful official examination, ISED states that the ROC-A certificate will be mailed to you.
